Trousers as comfy as sweatpants
CALIFORNIA (PDF)

I find Atelier Scammit patterns entirely reliable, accurate, and well-fitting. The PDF printed up and tiled together easily. The video tutorial is very good, even using translation. The sizing advice for this pattern was particularly useful (depending on amount of stretch in your fabric). Next time, I will use a simpler fly construction, as I found this one a bit fussy and time consuming, though the instructions are perfectly clear and the result pleasing. To address my wee belly and swayback, I sized up a bit, tapered the centre back seam to the waist and added about 8 inches of elastic inside the back waistband, from one side-back belt loop to the other. Perfection!

LOVE my Arizona dress!!
ARIZONA (PDF)

I made the rectangle skirt and added the ruffle at the collar and neckline. I made it in a plaid 80% wool and 20% nylon blend brushed flannel. This did make parts of the dress a little bulky to sew but I just love the contrast between the traditionally masculine, "basic" flannel and the feminine, elevated dress. I did find sewing the collar/frill to the placket tricky and I didn't make a perfect job of it. But it's tidy and doesn't look "wrong". The pattern information didn't make it clear (at least I didnt see if it did) that the rectangle skirt didn't have elastic at the waist unlike the other skirts but actually I love that it doesn't have elastic and I was going to see how it went and maybe eliminate the elastic anyway. I found the pattern true to size. I love this dress so much I'm sure I'll be wearing it for many winters to come.
